TICKETS FOR BELLATOR 194: NELSON VS. MITRIONE ONSALE FRIDAY, DEC. 8

LOS ANGELES – The second of four fights making up the first round of the 2018 Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix will take place Friday, February 16 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. and will feature fan-favorite Roy Nelson (23-14) taking on exciting knockout artist Matt Mitrione (12-5).

Tickets for Bellator 194: Nelson vs. Mitrione are available early through a special Bellator Nation pre-sale running Wednesday, December 6 through Thursday, December 7. Tickets will go on sale to the general public Friday, December 8. Tickets can be purchased at the Mohegan Sun Arena Box Office, as well as Ticketmaster and Bellator.com.

The event will be broadcast live and free on Paramount Network at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT, while preliminary action will stream on Bellator.com and globally on the Bellator Mobile App. Additional contests will be announced in coming weeks.

Fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Nelson made his Bellator debut earlier this year with a hard-fought victory over Javy Ayala following an eight-year, 19-fight run with UFC that saw him earn wins over Mirko Cro Cop, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, “Bigfoot” Silva and Cheick Kongo. “Big Country” also memorably defeated the late Kimbo Slice and later went on to win season 10 of The Ultimate Fighter. With 19 of his 23 career wins coming by way of knockout or submission, the long-time fan-favorite looks to add a championship to his impressive resume.

Matt Mitrione remains poised to make a run at the Bellator heavyweight title following three knockout wins since signing with Bellator in 2016, including a first-round KO of Fedor Emelianenko at Bellator NYC this past June. The Illinois native and standout defensive end at Purdue University earned All-Big Ten honors in 2000 and subsequently earned his way into the NFL where he played six seasons as a member of the New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings. Mitrione ultimately found his way into MMA where he became a high-level competitor, defeating the likes of the late Kimbo Slice, Derrick Lewis and Gabriel Gonzaga.

Lion Fight Promotions, the worldwide leader in Muay Thai combat, returns to Foxwoods Resort Casino on Friday, September 29th with a roster of international stars and new talent.

Destructive knockout artist and reigning Lion Fight super middleweight champion Regian “The Immortal” Eersel (46-4) will put his belt on the line against the last man to beat him – Czech star Matous Kahout (39-9).

Eersel has blasted through his opposition inside the Lion Fight ring, including a fourth-round head-kick knockout of two-division champion Jo Nattawut, a second-round demolition of Jake Purdy to claim the title, and then a vicious first-round finish of D.C. Pratt in his first title defense. The Amsterdam, Holland, product, who has posted nine consecutive knockout victories, will be out to avenge his last defeat when Kahout notched a unanimous decision verdict over Eersel in March of last year in Prague, Czech Republic.

“We are immensely excited to have Regian Eersel returning in an outstanding main event against the only man in over two years to beat him Matous Kohout, our first-ever fighter to come from Eastern Europe. I have no doubt this will be the best super middleweight title fight in our history and a fight that fans around the world will be watching.”

—Scott Kent, Lion Fight President & CEO

A top contender in the light heavyweight division will come out of the clash between Seattle’s Juan Jackson (9-1) and New York City’s Elijah Clarke (6-1) – both newcomers to the Lion Fight roster.

Lion Fight has quickly established a strong cruiserweight division, now headed by newly crowned champion Chip Moraza-Pollard. His next challenger may come out of a matchup that will see long-time contender Brett Hlavacek (18-6), who fights out of New York City, take on promotional newcomer Timothy Woods (8-1) of Fairfax, Virginia.

Lion Fight is ushering in a new women’s division as well. The light flyweight ranks will open up with Italy’s Silvia La Notte (61-13-4) taking on England’s Dani Fall (12-1).

Lion Fight 38 will also mark the return of two of the organization’s hottest prospects. Lightweight Jafar “The Cookie” Monster” Toshev and heavyweight Steve “Put ’Em To Sleep” Walker, who both scored highlight-reel knockouts in their respective debuts, will be part of action. Also slated to be part of the action will be fan favorite Brian “Magoo” Bogue, who will make his long-awaited professional debut.

Lion Fight 38 will air live on AXS TV Fights in the United States as well as on Fight Network throughout Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

LOS ANGELES — Bellator MMA is proud to announce the signing of perennial top contender Gegard Mousasi to an exclusive, multi-fight contract.

Long-considered to be one of the elite two-division threats in MMA, Mousasi joins Bellator currently riding a five-fight win streak that includes recent knockout victories over two former world champions in Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort. Prior to his UFC tenure, Mousasi captured the STRIKEFORCE light heavyweight title, as well as the DREAM light heavyweight and middleweight titles in Japan. The signing sees Mousasi rejoin Bellator President Scott Coker following his successful run with STRIKEFORCE from 2009-2013.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Gegard to the growing Bellator family,” said Bellator President Scott Coker. “He’s one of the most well-rounded fighters in all of MMA and can compete in multiple divisions, so that really opens up some exciting matchmaking opportunities for us and for the fans. We’re looking forward to having him compete on Spike very soon.”

“I am looking forward to fighting in Bellator,” added Mousasi. “I have a long-standing relationship with Scott Coker that goes back many years. Be ready, I am coming after the Bellator middleweight championship.”

The Iranian-born Mousasi, who currently trains out of The Netherlands, has amassed an overall career record of 42-6-2 and has earned victories over some of the sports’ biggest names, including Dan Henderson, “Jacare” Souza, Mark Hunt, Ovince Saint-Preux, Melvin Manhoef, Hector Lombard and “Babalu” Sobral. The addition of Mousasi adds depth to an ever-growing Bellator roster, which has recently seen free agents Rory MacDonaldLorenz LarkinMichael McDonald and current Bellator light heavyweight champ Ryan Baderjoin the Viacom-owned promotion.
