Jinh Yu Frey Wins at Invicta FC 39, Forfeits Belt After Missing Weight

Jinh Yu Frey earned a decision win over Ashley Cummins last night at Invicta FC 39, but after missing weight by 0.8 pounds ahead of the bout, she failed to regain the atomweight title that was stripped from her on the scales.

“It feels good to get a win, but it still can’t erase the fact I missed weight,” Frey said afterward. “We’re going to go home and reevaluate things and see if 105 is the place to be, or if it’s time to go up.”

The crowd at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan. booed as the trio of 48-47 scores were announced for the five-round event. A Cummins win would have given her the atomweight title, but with Frey declared victor the belt becomes vacant.
