It was an action-packed night of live Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) when Combate Americas returned to Tucson with a 10-bout-card that kept fans energized from start to finish.
“Combate Americas Tucson” was presented on Friday, October 11th, at AVA Amphitheater at Casino del Sol, and was aired live on television on both broadcast – Univision – and cable – TUDN – platforms.
In the main event bantamweight showdown, former world champion Jose “Pochito” Alday (13-5-1) and dangerous veteran Joby Sanchez (13-5) faced off for three rounds, with Joby ultimately defeating Jose via via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).
In the first of three featured bouts, Anthony “El Toro” Birchak (15-6) met Erick Aguilar Radleim (5-4) in “la jaula” for a catchweight (140 lbs.) showdown, with Anthony Birchak defeating Erik Radleim via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 1:40 of R1
In a change to the women’s main card fight, two competitors made their professional debuts. Valerie Quintero battled Lucero Acosta at 140-pound catchweight, Lucero Acosta defeating Valerie Quintero via Unanimous Decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
To wrap up the main card at flyweight, fast-rising star Jaime Alvarez (8-1-0) faced off against Brazilian star Joao Camilo (5-3). Joao Camilo defeated Jaime Alvarez via Submission (Guillotine Choke) at 2:48 of R1.
