Kevin Ferguson Jr. aka Baby Slice has had his TKO win over Craig Campbell overturned. Ferguson Jr. won the bout at Bellator 232 with a flurry of elbows in just 38 seconds. However on review of the footage, the injury that stunned Campbell was an accidental elbow to the back of the head.
The Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation rules allow for using instant replay in “an exhibition stopped due to injury to an unarmed combatant in order to determine whether the injury in question was caused by a legal blow.”
MTDAR Director Mike Mazzulli released the following statement:
“In the case of the above-referenced bout, upon review of the tape, we have determined that the injury that stopped the bout was the result of an accidental foul; elbows to the back of the head,” he said. “Since the bout was stopped in the first round of a bout scheduled for three rounds, we have determined that the result of the bout must be changed to ‘no-contest’.”
The decision will come as a blow to Ferguson Jr., son of late, legendary fighter Kimbo Slice, who moves to 3-2-1 in his professional MMA career. After a year-long hiatus since his loss to Corey Browning at Bellator 207, his last win came over Devon Brock at Bellator 197 in April 2018.
