Former Bellator and UFC fighter Cindy Dandois took to Facebook this week to post pictures of her cut face and broken nose—the result, she says, of a beating by her ex-boyfriend. Speaking to HLN, Dandois says her ex, identified as “M.B.” in the article, and as fellow MMA fighter Musti Brika by SCEPTR, refused to accept that the relationship was over and showed up at her door last Friday and assaulted her.
“I was not prepared for the attack at all. Before I knew it I got slapped in the face. My nose is broken and crooked,” Dandois said. “There is also a deep cut that was stitched with seven stitches. It will be a scar for life. Hopefully they will be able to straighten my nose again. I should have taken the threats seriously from the beginning, but I always hoped he would cool down. Not so.”
According to eyewitnesses, Brika used a key in the attack, leaving Dandois with several gashes on her face that required stitches.
Despite her injuries, Dandois says she doesn’t want her ex to go to jail. “I’d be very happy if he had to pay for the financial costs. I don’t need to send him to prison. We are all people, we all make mistakes. I hope he sees them, pays for what he has done, and picks up his life again. And leave me alone.”
Both fighters are scheduled to appear on the Cage Survivor 14 card in December. Dandois says she still intends to compete.
