Fighters hit the scale and faced off one day before the big Mexico vs. USA Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) showdown at Foro Sur, live on television in the U.S. in Spanish on Univision and TUDN, on Friday September 27, 2019.
Featherweight (145 pounds) main event opponents Horacio “The Punisher” Gutierrez (5-3) of Guadalajara and rising star Chase “El Guero” Gibson (7-3) of Los Angeles, Calif. weighed in at 145.7 pounds and 145.6 pounds, respectively, for their much-anticipated showdown.
In the co-main event, explosive striker Marcelo “Pitbull” Rojo (15-6) of Cordoba, Argentina weighed in at 139.2 pounds, three pounds over the bantamweight (135 pounds) bout’s contractual limit that includes a one pound allowance, while his opponent, versatile Victor “El Periquito” Madrigal (8-2) of Guadalajara, weighed in at 135.9 pounds. The fight will proceed as planned.
Featured women’s strawweight (115 lbs.) fighters Guadalajara-native Saray Orozco (4-3) of Guadalajara and Silvana “La Malvada” Gomez (6-2) of San Miguel, Argentina weighed in at 115.1 pounds and 115.3 pounds respectively.
Unbeaten Axel Osuna (2-0) of Guadalajara weighed in at 127.7 pounds, 1.7 pounds over the contractual limit of his scheduled flyweight (125 pounds) meeting with Los Angeles’ Heinrich Wassmer (6-4), who tipped the scales at 125.6 pounds.
The bout between Osuna and Wassmer will proceed as planned, as long as Osuna does not weigh above 133 pounds before the event begins.
