UFC light heavyweight champ Jon Jones has put his latest troubles behind him. The pound-for-pound No. 1 settled a complaint by a cocktail waitress at a strip club Tuesday in Bernalillo County (N.M.) Metropolitan Court, where he pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct.
Jones received a 90-day deferred sentence, during which time he must avoid legal trouble and can’t consume alcohol or drugs. He is also under unsupervised probation, can’t return to the strip club, and must pay court fees. His no contest plea isn’t considered admission of guilt in the state of New Mexico.
News of the April incident became public in July, when Jones insisted he was “definitely not in any trouble” for “roughhousing” with the waitress. He initially faced battery charges for allegedly placing her in “a tight rear-naked choke hold,” and slapping her genitals.
Jones has fought three times in the last twelve months, winning the vacant LHW belt at UFC 232 in a rematch against Alexander Gustafsson, then successfully defending his title against Anthony Smith and Thiago Santos. Jones is currently embroiled in a Twitter war of words with UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.
