Conor McGregor has made more headlines outside the Octagon than inside in recent months, but this week his manager Audie Attar of Paradigm Sports Management appeared on Ariel Helwani’s show to officially address and deny multiple allegations of sexual assault that have been made against his client.
“He vehemently denies any allegation of sexual misconduct or any wrongdoing,” Attar said. “We vehemently deny it, and he does as well. At the end of the day we know who he is, he knows who he is, and we know what the truth is.”
The first allegation was reported in the New York Times in March. A second allegation was reported by the same publication last month. Both incidents were alleged to have occurred in Ireland. Because Irish law prevents defendants from being publicly named, McGregor has not been officially confirmed as the suspect, and until now his camp has remained silent on the matter.
For now, Team McGregor wants to focus on a return to the Octagon, touted for early next year. “We’ve both agreed on a date and we’ve agreed on opponents,” Attar said. “A deal is imminent. I don’t see anything getting in the way barring some unforeseen circumstances. I think both parties want to get it done. I think it’s in the best in interest of everyone involved.”
