Mark Hunt Loses Legal Fight Against UFC

Mark Hunt has lost his legal fight against the UFC. The MMA fighter initiated a lawsuit against the promotion, alleging racketeering, fraud, breach of contract and more, in 2017. UFC President Dana White and former heavyweight champ Brock Lesnar were also named in the suit, which related to Lesnar’s win over Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016. Lesnar had tested positive the anti-estrogen drug clomiphene in a test that was administered 11 days before the event.

Hunt sought compensatory damages, declaratory relief, punitive damages, statutory treble damages, and attorney’s fees.

Much of the lawsuit was dismissed in February this year, but a Nevada judge just issued a summary judgment in favor of the UFC.

Lesnar had been granted an exemption under the UFC’s anti-doping policy to fight without the additional testing a returning fighter is required to undertake. Following the positive test the win was overturned to a No Contest and Lesnar was suspended for one year. Hunt sought to receive the entire $2.5 million fight purse.
