Specialized Mobile Animal Rescue, or “SMART”, is the subject of award-winning filmmaker Justin Zimmerman’s latest project. “SMART” is a feature-length documentary following a group of highly trained professionals in Los Angeles as they do everything they can to save wild and domestic animals in danger.
The action-packed film was shot over a three-year period and chronicles a wide variety of rescue situations, from your standard cat in the tree to such unusual predicaments as lifting a horse out of a river by helicopter and tranquilizing a deer in Pee-wee Herman’s back yard.
