ONE Championship™ (ONE), recently held the ONE: EDGE OF GREATNESS Official Open Workout at Evolve Far East Square in Singapore.
ONE Championship athletes competing this Friday evening, 22 November at the Singapore Indoor Stadium came out to showcase their skills to fans and media in attendance. They also took time to address the media and talk about their upcoming bouts. Here’s what they had to say:
Nong-O Gaiyanghadao, ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Champion, stated: “I feel privileged and honored to be able to share my style of fighting with the world. I have the ability to make adjustments and adapt to my opponent’s style in the ring. I think this will be key against Saemapetch. This will be my first time fighting here in Singapore, so I am very grateful to be able to perform in front of my friends, my family, and my students. To be able to defend my title here, it will be a special moment in my career. I am looking forward to victory and I can’t wait to give my best for the crowd.”
Saemapetch Fairtex, MTGP Welterweight World Champion, stated: “Fighting for the ONE Bantamweight Muay Thai World Championship against a legend of the sport in Nong-O Gaiyanghadao is a huge honor for me. I’ve waited my entire career for this moment. In this fight, the world will witness how two Thai warriors do battle, and our unique fighting spirit. Nong-O is a great champion. He is very smart and crafty, and very well-rounded. But I’m the younger man, I’m stronger and hungrier. This is my time and I’m ready to shock the world.”
Amir Khan, former ONE Lightweight World Title challenger, stated: “I am stronger now than ever before – more skilled and more experienced. I’ve had a few months to analyze my recent performances. I’m more focused mentally, and I just feel like I’m in a good place. I want to show everyone here at home how much I’ve improved and what I can do. This bout, I feel, is going to be fight of the night. Both myself and Ev Ting always come to fight. We always leave it all inside the ring. It’s going to be non-stop action from start to finish.”
Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke, former ONE Strawweight World Champion, stated: “I’ve been in martial arts my entire life, and it’s something I truly enjoy. Getting to compete among the best in the world, that’s all an athlete can ever ask for. I am extremely grateful and happy for the opportunities that I have been given in my career. I was the first ever Thai champion in ONE Championship. I am thankful to be an inspiration to the youth and those who want to follow in my footsteps. But my journey doesn’t end here. There is still a long way to go and I’m looking forward to winning this Friday night.”
Bruno Pucci, ONE Athlete, stated: “I am super happy to be competing again after a few months off. The long wait is over, and now it’s time to get back in there and do what I love to do. I would like to thank my wife, Angela Lee, and the rest of the family for all their support. I’m looking forward to a lot of opportunities moving on in my career. Right now, though, I know I have to take care of business this Friday night. I’ve trained very hard for this comeback, now all that’s left is to perform. I’m also excited to be back here in Singapore, to put on a show for all the fans.”
