Zhang Weili will make her first defense of her strawweight title against former champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 248. The bout will take place March 7.
Weili (20-1 MMA, 4-0 UFC) claimed the belt at UFC Shenzhen in August, when she defeated Jessica Andrade with a spectacular first-round knockout. Current No. 5 Jedrzejczyk (16-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) lost the belt to Rose Namajunas in Nov. 2017, and failed to regain it with an immediate rematch. Since then she’s gone 2-1 with the promotion, with wins over Tecia Torres and Michelle Waterson, and a loss to Valentina Shevchenko.
Weili is on a 20-fight winning streak, her sole defeat coming on her debut in the Chinese regional circuit in 2013.
