UFC 247 Complete Results: Jones, Shevchenko Retain Titles

Jon Jones (26-1, 1 NC) set a new UFC record with his 14th title bout victory at Toyota Center, Houston, but his win over previously undefeated challenger Dominick Reyes wasn’t without controversy. The crowd booed as the 48-47, 48-47 and 49-46 unanimous verdict was announced, with many taking to social media to say they felt Reyes had won the bout, having outstruck the defending champ in the first three rounds.

“Dominick did a tremendous job. You have totally deserved my respect man,” Jones said. “I think the difference in the fight was takedowns. I couldn’t keep him down but at least I took him down. The exchanges were close with kickboxing but I believe my takedowns are what won it.”

Elsewhere on the card, defending women’s flyweight champ Valentina Shevchenko earned a TKO victory over challenger Katlyn Chookagian and also retained her title.
