Combate Americas Signs Former ‘TUF: Latin America’ Runner-Up

Combate Americas announced today that it has signed 27-year-old featherweight (145 pounds) Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) star Leonardo “Chimy” Morales (10-4) to an exclusive, multi-fight promotional agreement.

The explosive Morales of Managua, Nicaragua will make his Combate Americas promotional debut on a date to be announced soon, and seek his fourth consecutive victory.

“Leonardo Morales is a superb addition to our featherweight division, and is another example of the deep pool of talent that exists in the Latin world,” said Combate Americas CEO Campbell McLaren.

A runner-up on The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America 1 competition reality television series in 2014, Morales was a member of the team coached by former world champion Fabricio Werdum, and was pitted against rivals coached by another famed, former world champion in Cain Velasquez.

During the competition show, Morales defeated Masio “El Lobo” Fullen by way of second round (2:39) TKO, and followed up the powerful performance with a unanimous decision over Gabriel “Moggly” Benitez.

In the television series’ championship showdown, Morales faced off with Yair Rodriguez, losing a unanimous decision to Rodriguez.

Morales has earned all three of his latest wins by way of (T)KO or submission.
