‘Sexy’ Dulce Garcia Ready to Fight Anali Lopez Hernandez at Combate Americas: Tito vs Alberto

Must Love MMA caught up with ‘Sexy’ Dulce Garcia to see how she’s prepared to face Anali Lopez Hernandez at Combate Americas: Tito vs. Alberto this weekend. Garcia talks about her fight camp, her passion for combat sports, and working in an industry dominated by men.

MLMMA: You have a big fight in a few days. How has training camp been for you?

Garcia: I feel amazing in all aspects. It was a very hard camp. I’m ready.

MLMMA: Did you change anything around in preparation for your fight?

Garcia: I changed all my preparation, so I decided to do a training camp away from home.

MLMMA: How does your fighting style compare to Hernandez?

Garcia: I do not compare myself with anyone. Everyone has their own style.

MLMMA: Congratulations on your win over Mariana Ruiz. In that fight you showed us your impressive ground game. How do you envision winning this fight?

Garcia: I am ready to face the fight, however it goes. If it comes down to sparring or fighting on the floor, I am prepared for whatever comes.

MLMMA: You box, you wrestle, you were the first woman to win the Lucha Underground Championship and, by extension, the first and only woman to hold a World Heavyweight Championship in a major wrestling promotion. Now you’re competing in MMA. Which discipline do you like best?

Garcia: I am passionate about all three disciplines, but with MMA I feel free.

MLMMA: So, since you have such an amazing and multi-talented background in combat sports, do you feel you have found a home at Combate?

Garcia: Totally, they trusted me and made me feel at home.

MLMMA: What drives you?

Garcia: My daughter, staying strong and demonstrating that I can be in a sport dominated by men who mostly want power.

MLMMA: Who are your heroes?

Garcia: My parents.

MLMMA: How do you like to spend your free time?

Garcia: I enjoy spending my free time with my daughter.

MLMMA: Does she train in combat sports?

Garcia: She likes MMA, but right now she asks me to train in boxing.

MLMMA: You always had an interest in combat sports growing up, but you also have a degree in communications—how did you make the transition from that into combat sports?

Garcia: I made this transition after a bout of depression.

MLMMA: Is there anything else you want to add?

Garcia: I am very grateful for God and life and to everyone who has believed in me—especially to those who have defined my life story. I want to tell you one more time, if I can keep going, so can you!
